What is the best time to visit Polonnaruwa?

The ideal period extends from January to March, when the weather is dry and temperatures are milder for exploring the site outdoors. Avoid the monsoon season as much as possible, as it can make the paths muddy and impassable.

How much time should be allowed for a complete visit?

It is recommended to dedicate a full day to explore the main archaeological sectors without rushing. Prior preparation allows you to optimize the route to cover the most distant areas early in the morning.

Is it possible to get around by bike on the site?

Yes, cycling is the most common and efficient means of transport to connect the various groups of ruins located several kilometers apart. Rentals are available in the immediate vicinity of the main entrance to the archaeological site.
